Talents Abound at the 3rd Annual English Festival

It is an annual activity of HWFLS International Primary School Department to hold an English Festival. Thus, from the last week of April up to the third week of May, students from all grade levels participated in various contests and performances with the purpose of improving students’ language abilities by using it practically on stage, in competitions and social situations and developing their presentation skills and confidence when speaking and performing in front of audiences.
合肥世界外國語學(xué)校國際小學(xué)每年舉辦一次英語節(jié)。因此，從四月的最后一周到五月的第三周，各個年級的學(xué)生參加了各種比賽和表演，目的是通過在舞臺上，比賽和社交場合中實際使用英語來提高學(xué)生的語言能力，以及他們在觀眾面前講話和表演時的表達能力和自信。
The English Festival commenced with a spelling contest. Selected students from Grades 1 to 6 battled for the top spot in the spelling contest in their respective grades.
英語節(jié)從單詞拼寫比賽拉開序幕，選定的一到六年級學(xué)生在各自年級的單詞拼寫比賽中爭奪第一名。
The second week was another exciting week as students competed in the grammar race. Questions were derived from their textbooks categorized as easy, average, and difficult.
第二周又是一個令人興奮的一周。學(xué)生們參加了語法比賽。問題是根據(jù)平時上課所用課本得來的，這些問題分為容易、一般難度以及有一定難度三個層次。
The third week was allotted for storytelling and poem recitation. Participants of the contest were tasked to tell a story and recite a poem in their own creative ways. Each presentation had its unique features that left our judges and audiences in awe as each contestant’s presentation was entertaining and some were intense and full of emotions.
第三周被用來講故事和朗誦詩歌。參賽者被要求以自己的創(chuàng)造性方式講述故事或者朗誦詩歌。所有的參賽者各有特點，有的演講有趣，有的情感充沛，令評委和觀眾印象深刻，深感佩服。
The last day of the celebration was the most anticipated of all as it marks the culmination of the festival. It was just an austere celebration participated by the teachers and students themselves but the quintessence of using the English language and students’ vivacious and jovial presence were there. The program started with the welcome address of Miss Winnie and Miss Anna, the masters of ceremonies of the event.
慶?；顒拥淖詈笠惶焓怯⒄Z節(jié)最令人期待的一天，它標(biāo)志著整個英語節(jié)的高潮。這雖然只是學(xué)生和老師共同參加的一次正式活動，但是學(xué)生們使用英語的積極性以及他們活潑而愉快的表現(xiàn)是此次活動的精髓。此次慶?；顒右訫iss Winnie和 Miss Anna的歡迎詞開始。
Then, came the singing competition proper with intermission numbers in between contestants. It was truly amazing to see students embrace and exhibit their talents in singing, dancing, acting, poem recitation and storytelling.
接下來就是英文歌唱比賽了。也有很多表演穿插在參賽者們表演中間?？吹綄W(xué)生們展現(xiàn)自己在唱歌、跳舞、表演、詩歌朗誦和講故事方面的才能，真的是了不起！
What’s more, not only the students showcased their talents but also their English teachers who grooved to a 70s song giving students a glimpse of their impressive talent in dancing. The winners of the different competitions were then awarded at the end of the program with certificates and bags of goodies.
更重要的是，不僅學(xué)生展示了自己的才華，英語老師們也演繹了70年代的歌曲，讓學(xué)生們可以一睹他們在舞蹈方面令人印象深刻的才能。然后，在英語節(jié)接近尾聲之際，老師們向不同比賽的優(yōu)勝者頒發(fā)證書和精美禮品袋。
This event serves as another milestone for the International Primary Department. Once again, the teachers opened the gateway for students to showcase their talents, what they know and what they can do in and outside the classroom setting. Truly, the events conducted were instructive and edifying for the part of the students and the teachers as well. Moreover, these events just prove that at HWFLS International Primary Department, not only the minds and academic performance of students are developed but also their talents, confidence, social skills and potentials.
本次英語節(jié)活動是國際小學(xué)的又一個里程碑。老師們再次為學(xué)生們展示了自己的才能，展現(xiàn)他們所知道的知識以及他們在課堂內(nèi)外都能做什么。事實上，本次英語節(jié)活動對學(xué)生和老師們都具有啟發(fā)性。最重要的是，本次活動證明，在合肥世界外國語學(xué)校國際小學(xué)，不僅能培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的思維和學(xué)業(yè)成績，而且還發(fā)展了他們的才華，自信，社交技巧和潛力。
